LEE COUNTY - Two Burlington attorneys have had their name submitted to Gov. Kim Reynolds to fill a judicial vacancy in the 8B Judicial District in southeast Iowa.
Attorneys Joshua Schier and Justin Stonerook were both advanced out of interview sessions held Monday at the Des Moines County Courthouse in Burlington.
Iowa Code mandates that the two names be submitted to the governor who will appoint one of the two to replace Judge Mark Kruse who's retiring in February.
Kruse is the second judge in the district to retire. Chief Judge Mary Ann Brown is retiring at the end of the year as well.
Lee County Assistant Attorney Jonathan Stensvaag applied for both openings.
