SAI picks Slater as finalist for Superintendent of the Year

Fort Madison's Dr. Erin Slater a finalist for 2025 honor.

FORT MADISON - Dr. Erin Slater was recently named as a finalist for Iowa Superintendent of the Year for 2025.  
Slater was nominated by peers and selected by a School Administrators of Iowa (SAI) committee as a finalist for 2025.  The winner will be named next month. 
SAI receives nominations and selects finalists and the winner based on standards and criteria in Leadership for Learning, Communication, Professionalism and Community Involvement.
“This is a wonderful honor to be selected as a finalist for the 2025 Iowa’s Superintendent of the Year. I look forward to the process and am happy to increase the positive footprint of FMCSD across the state with this nomination.”
Slater is in her ninth year at the Fort Madison Community School District. She obtained her Doctorate of Education degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL  in 2018. She received her Educational Specialist degree in 2010 and her Master in Science in Education degree in 1995 also from Northern Illinois University.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from the University of Iowa.
