Samuel L. Gray, 71, of Fort Madison, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 6:30 PM at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center ER in Ft. Madison.
He was born on January 4, 1952 in Rockford, IL to Samuel and Mary Lee Bryant Gray.  Sam worked as a mechanic for Shottenkirk and also the City of Ft. Madison.  He loved working on cars, enjoyed watching street races on TV and was a NASCAR fan, especially Dale Ernhardt, Sr.  He will be missed and loved by his family and friends.
Survivors include his twin daughters, Heather (Dameon) Bowen-Jones of Powell, OH and Holly Bowen of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren, Avery and Brynn Jones; partner of thirty years,  Mary Dawson of Ft. Madison and her children, Jerel Dawson and Sarah Dawson; one sister, Betty Gray-Brown of Madison, WI;  nieces and nephews.  He was preceded by his parents and two sisters, Marva and Gwen. 
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory and there will be no formal services at this time.  Online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
