King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Mildred L. Schulz, 107, Fort Madison

Mildred L. “Millie” Schulz, 107, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 2:48 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.  She was born on January 18, 1916 in Normal, IL to Thomas & Louise Schroeder Landes.  She married Lawrence “Babe” F. Schulz on December 19, 1936.  He preceded her in death.  She graduated from Normal Community High School in 1934 and attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Bloomington, IL.  They moved to Keosauqua, IA in 1947 to farm.  While farming, they took care of numerous foster children.  After retiring from the farm, she worked at the Van Buren County Home and also filled in in Quincy as house parents at a home for troubled youth.  They retired to Florida and volunteered at area nursing homes and hospitals.
Millie is survived by: 1-son: Jerry (Pat) Schulz of Fort Madison, IA; 1-daughter: Patti (Kenny) Patterson of St. Charles, IA; 6-grandchildren; 7-great grandchildren & 13-great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by: her parents and 8-siblings.
