Harold “Butch” Horn, 77, of Ft. Madison passed away at 7:05 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his home.
He was born on August 3, 1946 in Ft. Madison to Paul W. and Regina M. Baxter Horn.  On February 12, 2000 he married Candace Smallwood Sheppard in Ft. Madison.  Butch was a truck driver for Johnson Trucking.  He proudly served in the US Air Force and worked in the K-9 unit.  Butch loved spending time on the river and taught many people to water ski.  He had a love for old trucks and cars and going to car shows.  Most of all, his family was his greatest love, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Candy Horn of Ft. Madison; one son, Dan (Janice) Horn of Ft. Madison; three step children, Marcia (John) Gordon of Winnipeg, Canada, Lesley (Bill) Hieatt of Donnellson and Levi (Tiff) Sheppard of Louisville, Co; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, Elijah, Ezra, Liam, Samantha and Haley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law, Carolyn and Jay Shaddock and brother and sister in law, Mike and Linda Horn.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Kyle Sadler officiating.   The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Burial will be in Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery with military rites performed by the Ft. Madison Veterans Honor Guard.
