Margaret Alys Bailey, 90, of Donnellson, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:35 PM at The Kensington.
She was born on May 25, 1932 in Washington county, IA to Lee Roy and Bernice L. Shidler Fread. Margaret was a 1951 graduate of Winfield High School and married James B. Bailey of Mt. Pleasant on June 2, 1951. James preceded her in death on February 13, 2023. Margaret worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Mt. Pleasant and lived with her in-laws while her husband served in the US Navy. Margaret and Jim lived in the Montrose community for thirty five years before moving to Mt. Hamill in 1995. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, reading, coffee with the Mt. Hamill Sunshine Girls and watching squirrels and wild birds.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (Sam Strange) Bailey of Donnellson and Sandra (Greg) Smith of Ft. Madison. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in-law and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father in-law; four brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) Fread, Terry (Sandra) Fread, Bentley (Lorraine) Fread and infant brother Keith Fread.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory and there will be no services at this time.
