Edna Blanche Hardy, 96, of Denmark, IA, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, IA.  She was born on December 1, 1926 in Eubank, KY to Luther & Lou Todd Pumphrey.  She married Alvin Floyd Orton on September 9, 1944 in Burlington, IA.  He preceded her in death on November 30, 1961.  She married Robert A. Hardy in December of 1982 in West Burlington, IA.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2022.   

She worked for Sheaffer Pen Company in her younger years and later for Liddle Egg Company in Wever.  She retired from G.E. in Burlington with 25 years of service.  She was a member of Fort Madison Christian Church and loved to quilt and cook and was well known for her pies.  She had a true servant’s heart and was always happy to help her friends, family & those in need.

Blanche is survived by: 1-daughter: Sandra M. (Roy) Hollis of Kansas City, MO; 2-sons: Russell F. (Joan) Orton of Wever, IA & Rex A. (Sherri) Orton of Boone, NC; 7-grandchildren & 13-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by: her parents, 1-granddaughter: Diana, 1-brother in infancy: Paul and 2-brothers: Harold & Ernie.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 with Martin Graber officiating.  Burial will be held at Denmark Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for Denmark Fire & Rescue.  Online condolences to Blanche’s family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
