Shirley Ann Ball, 58, of Keokuk, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Shirley was born on October 19, 1964, in Keosauqua, Iowa, the daughter of Jim Hardman and Jackie (Smith) Hardman Bronstine. She worked in food service for several years, finding employment with 14 Pit Grill, Two Rivers, Churches Chicken, Burger Chef, Duck Shed and Shrimp Boat. She would finish out her working career at Walmart in Keokuk. Shirley enjoyed doing cross stitch, shooting pool and playing Bingo. She collected angels and shot glasses, and enjoyed listening to country music and drinking Pepsi. She loved her dog Sydney, but most of all, she loved her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her mother Jackie Bronstine of Wayland, Missouri; two daughters: Crystal (Cole) Ball-Newlan of Keokuk, and Lisa Ball of Montrose, Iowa; two beautiful granddaughters: Calliope and Guinevere Newlan; her handsome grandson Orion Ball; two brothers: Jeff Hardman of Washington, Iowa, and Gary (Rechilda) Hardman of Semmes, Alabama; her sister Sherry Daggs of Donnellson, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father Jim, two brothers: Jamie and Mike Hardman, her life partner Sylvester John “Bud” Runge, and her step-father Bobbi Bronstine.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held from 12 pm (Noon) to 2 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, October 19, at the Kahoka Cemetery following the celebration of life.
