Alberta L. Robinson, 99, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa.
Alberta was born on December 6, 1923, in Farmington, Iowa, the daughter of James Jasper and Blanche (Davis) Dawson. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1943, and later was united in marriage to Charles Nathaniel Robinson, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1995.
Alberta was employed in housekeeping at the Chief Motel and Sheller Globe in Keokuk, but her primary role was raising and caring for her children and family. The sixth child of thirteen, Alberta enjoyed drinking beer and playing cards. She was known for her witty quips, and walked everywhere she went. Alberta was a fantastic cook, and her potato salad was always in high demand. Above all else, she treasured her family.
Alberta is survived by five children: Lester Dawson, Patty (David) Robinson, Chucky Robinson, Margie (Steven) Kirchner and Jay (Linda) Robinson; fifteen grandchildren: Shatanza, Shantel, Jermaine, Corey, Brittany, Cisaley, Candice, Taylor, William “Billy”, Miranda, Shon, Stefani, Shalese, Shakayla and Shaquille; thirty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Marline Malcom of Fort Madison, Iowa.
Alberta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, Her son Steven, two grandchildren: Charles and Shania, four sisters and eight brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. Burial at Keokuk National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm directly before the service.
