Barr Memorial Chapel obituary - Jason A. Creen, 53, Fort Madison

Posted

Jason Alan Creen, 53, of Fort Madison, Iowa, unexpectedly and sadly passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at his home.  He was born June 28, 1970, in Fort Madison to Bonnie J (Beelman) Williams and Nathan M Creen.
Shortly after graduating from Fort Madison High School in 1988, he took a job at the Walmart Distribution Center in Mount Pleasant, IA, where he worked his way up to systems operator. He was a dedicated employee for twenty-six years.
While Jason never married, he had many love interests. His love of music began early, which evolved into playing the clarinet in concert and marching band in both Jr. and Senior high school. He also played guitar and keyboard for his personal pleasure and occasionally jammed with friends. Jason developed a passion for all things football and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. Jason also enjoyed spending time with family playing assorted board and card games, especially euchre.
Jason is fondly remembered as an independent, open-minded, amiable person with a witty sense of humor and always ready to tell a joke.  As he had a lifelong curiosity and love of learning, his favorite saying was "The more you know". We know he was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his parents,  Bonnie (Tim) Williams of Fort Madison and Nathan (Laura) Creen of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; one brother, Luke Williams of Fort Madison;  two sisters: Erica (Marty) Crenlon of Chicago, Illinois and Haeley (Steve) Serio of Greenbay, Wisconsin; four nephews: Forrest, Ellis, Callan and Julian Serio; one niece: Leona Crenlon; five uncles: Bruce (Diane) Beelman of Sun Lakes, Arizona; Dan Beelman of Brimfield, Illinois; Rick (Rose) Beelman of Fort Madison; Jeff (Amanda) Creen of Des Moines, Iowa; and Matthew Leaverton (Liz Mannering) of Madison, six aunts: Connie (Mike) Basham; Robin (Dave) Foehring; Michelle (Rick) Seager; and Sheri (John) Hawk, all of Fort Madison;  Melissa (Tim) Freeman of Independence, Missouri; and Leigh Leaverton of Dallas City, Illinois; and many cousins.  He was preceded by his grandparents: Carl Beelman and Lois Wilson Beelman; LeRoy and Shirley (Kuntz) Leaverton; and one uncle, Ron Beelman.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jason's honor at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 4821 Avenue O in Fort Madison on Sunday September 17 at 3:00.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Creen family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
