Scott Wynn Hobbs, 69, of Ft. Madison, IA, died Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA.

He was born January 17, 1954 in Ft. Madison, IA the son of Gerald and Elenora Baxter Hobbs.  He graduated from Ft. Madison High School with the class of 1972. 

On June 14, 1986 Scott was united in marriage to Melissa Steffen.  She preceded him in death on December 18, 2022.

Scott had been employed by Santa Fe Railroad for thirty-seven years, until his retirement in 2014.

Scott was a member of The Boy Scouts of America and had served as a scout leader.

Scott had a witty sense of humor and was known to his friends as the king of one liners.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and canoeing.  He was an animal lover and loved all types of animals. 

He is survived by two daughters, Andrea Hobbs Nixon (Pete) of Columbia Station, OH and Sarah Hobbs Wagner (Jeremy) of Ozark, MO, one son, Matt Hobbs of Mediapolis, IA and two granddaughters, Maddilynn Hobbs and Audrey Nixon.  He is also survived by one brother, Steve Hobbs (Kim) of Ft. Madison, IA.

Besides his wife Melissa, he was also preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Joyce Campbell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, August 12, 2023 at Charleston Board of Trade in Donnellson, IA. 

Memorials may be made to the Lee County Conservation Board or to Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
