Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Robert K. High, 92, Keokuk

Robert Keith High 92, of Keokuk passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born December 23, 1931 in Keokuk, IA the son of Oscar and Hazel Kite High.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 20, 1951 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1955.
On December 31, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Madeline Jett Hart in Canton, MO. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2011.
Robert had been employed as a Union Pipefitter by Local 125 for thirty-four years, until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Keokuk, the American Legion Post #41, the VFW and the Elks Lodge.
Robert enjoyed all sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye fan.  He was an outdoorsman and liked to hunt, fish and play golf.  He was a talented artist and created beautiful stained glass pieces.
He is survived by three children, Keith High (Tammy) of Keokuk, IA, Kim Stansbery (Bryan) of Warsaw, IL and Karla King (Jeff) of South Haven, MS, eight grandchildren, Erika Smith (Josh), Kristina Lovan (Shane), Heather Grossman (Anthony), Robert High (Whitney), Megan Ritter (Steve), Kyle Stansbery (Ashley),  Amanda Usery (Brent), Candace Turnmire (Marc) and twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was also preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Rellis High, Harold High, Marjorie Moyes-Korkoske, Deloris McCabe and Mary Gene Harryman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating.  Burial with military rites will be held in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Monday, from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to Great River Honor Flight or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
