Trudith “Trudy” V. Cetta, 70, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Trudy was born on February 7, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Bernice (Phillips) Dye. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1972 and worked in banking for twenty years from the age of seventeen. In 1991, she graduated from the Southeastern Community College Nursing Program, and spent the rest of her working career as a nurse. On July 16, 1992, she was united in marriage to Tony Cetta in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.
Trudy was an animal person to her core. She always had horses, cats and dogs in her home, and took in strays that she found. She was an avid collector and loved working in her garden. Trudy truly enjoyed going to HyVee Breakfast Club with her nursing friends from Keokuk Area Hospital. Most of all, she will be remembered for never complaining through life’s difficulties and her selfless giving to others.
Trudy is survived by her husband Tony Cetta of Keokuk; her daughter Erin Cruz of Columbus, Indiana; three stepchildren: Tony (Becky) Cetta, Gina M. Cetta and Stephanie A. (Manny) Poole, all of North Liberty, Iowa; two grandchildren: Bella and Kane Cruz; eight step-grandchildren: Christopher, Peyton, Andi, Rissa and Mari Cetta, Daja Roberts, and Tavin and Aidrie Poole; her sister Beverly (Lewallen) Foster; honorary sister Judy Cetta; and special cousin and friend Joe Rapagnani.
Trudy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gerald Craig.
Trudy’s life will be celebrated with a visitation from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, July 29, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. A funeral procession to the graveside will leave the funeral home directly following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.A.W.S. or the Donor’s Choice.
