Luka Edward Haist, beloved son of Tabitha Thomas and Audrick Haist passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

He was born July 20, 2023 in Iowa City and welcomed by his parents, Tabitha and Audrick of Keokuk, paternal grandparents, Amy and Chance Nye of Keokuk and Terry and Christina Haist of Cuba, MO, maternal grandfather, Glenn Thomas of Hamilton, IL, aunts and uncles, Carter Nye, Daniel Thomas, Tyler Bolden, Katlyn Schwartz, Bailey Haist, Lora Perry and Riley Haist.  Other survivors include paternal great-grandparents, Sandra Haist, Barb and Bill Sloop, Chad and Gina Nye, Mary and Bill Major and maternal great-grandmother, Louise Morehouse and his four-legged companion, Duke, who never left his side.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Tina Morehouse, maternal great-grandfather, Floyd Morehouse and maternal great-grandmother, Lucille Thomas and his uncle, Lucas Nye.

Luka brought immeasurable joy and boundless love into their lives during his brief time of knowing him.

A private family service will be held.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
