Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Harry A. Higgins, 84, formally of Keokuk, IA

Harry Aloysius Higgins, 84, formally of Keokuk, IA, passed away on August 11, 2023, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

     Harry was born on June 29, 1939, in Kirksville, MO.  He graduated from Kirksville High School in 1957 and served four years in the United States Air Force.  On April 15, 1972, Harry was united in marriage to Doris Bowman, who passed away on July 6, 2019.

     Harry is survived by one brother, John Higgins of Greentop, MO and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Higgins of Greentop, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine (Ludden) Higgins; his wife, Doris, three sisters, Annabel Stober, Margaret Snell, and Mary Hatfield; one brother, George Higgins; and three brothers-in-law, Jim Stober, Gus Snell, and George Hatfield.

      Harry worked at the Burlington Ammunition Plant for many years and enjoyed water dog racing.

     A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023 in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Reverend David Brownfield, Ph.D. officiating.
