Susan Theresa “Susie” Siegfried, 68, of Niota, Illinois, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at her home.
She was born on June 11, 1955, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of James and Florence (Moffitt) Parrish. On November 10, 1973, she married Henry Siegfried at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo.
Survivors include her husband: Henry; three sons: Andy (Kristy) Siegfried, Michael (Kelly) Siegfried, and Doug (Krissy) Siegfried; nine grandchildren: Hayden, Landon, Madison, Isaac, Lewis, Maxwell, Jackson, Cameryn, and Samuel; three brothers: Richard (Beth) Parrish of St. Peters, Missouri, Dr. Robert (Diane) Parrish of Peoria, Illinois, and Paul (Kristi) Parrish of Nauvoo, Illinois; one sister, Linda (Dennis) Mott of Fort Madison, Iowa. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Susie was a 1973 graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School. She owned and operated Country Cottage Antiques in Nauvoo for many years. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Catholic Women’s Club and the Questers Queens Ladies Group. Susie enjoyed gardening, walking, flowers, antiquing, spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren and attending their events.
A visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Schmitz - Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo, where the family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Father Tony Trosley as celebrant.
Burial will be at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Nauvoo.
A memorial has been established to HUGS of Hancock County.
