Ralph Troy Cox, 56, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 with his father at his side at the Lantern Park Specialty Care facility in Coralville, Iowa. 
 
He demonstrated great strength, courage, and dignity over many years of battling a chronic illness. 
 
Troy was born on September 5, 1966, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of James and Carole Sue (Glassford) Cox and raised in Port Byron, Illinois. He was the older brother to four siblings, LaNett, James, Christopher, and Lisa. 
 
He was a 1985 graduate of Riverdale High School in Port Byron, Illinois and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. 
 
Troy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary from 1985-1987 in the San Diego California Mission. 
 
He was employed by the Moline Forge, Rockford Drop Forge, and Nauvoo Restoration Inc. 
 
Troy was an avid bird watcher, voracious reader, and amateur genealogist and historian.  He loved to discuss U.S. History, the Civil War in particular. 
 
He is survived by his wife Ann, sons, Bret and Jarod, his daughter Cayla, his father, Jim and siblings, LaNett, James, Christopher, and Lisa.
 
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruby, his son, Steven, and his mother.
 
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral in Nauvoo. 
 
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the funeral home with Bishop Barlow and Bishop Anderson officiating.  A graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon at the Nauvoo City Cemetery.
