Sadie M. Mitchell, 90, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 10:59 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on January 7, 1933 in Fort Madison, IA to Idol J. & Scundra George Rashid. She married James R. Mitchell on July 6, 1962 in Carthage, IL. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2018. Sadie’s life was her family. She loved to cook their traditional Lebanese foods and did so until the time of her passing. She enjoyed sewing & crocheting.
Sadie is survived by: 3-daughters: Pam (Ron) Watson of Fort Madison, IA, Rhonda (Stephen) Koser of Fort Madison, IA & Cynthia (Wayne) Otte of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Dr. Idol (Jill) Mitchell of Macomb, IL; 20-grandchildren & 29-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 2-sons, 2-grandchildren, 1-great granddaughter & 2-brothers.
A private family service will be held with burial will to take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery next to her husband of 56 years. A memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and contributions may be sent directly to them in Sadie Mitchell’s name.
