Wilbur V. Neil, age 90, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Marshall County Hospital.
Wilbur was born on June 24, 1933 in Mount Union, Iowa to his late parents, Chester and Beulah Neil. In 1953, he married his wife of seventy years, Joan Meyers Neil, and they moved their family to Florida where Wilbur started and operated Neil's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning until he retired. Before their move to Florida, Wilbur served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. In 1999, Wilbur began building their retirement home in Cambridge Shores on Kentucky Lake which was a central location between his two sons who, at the time, lived in Oklahoma and North Carolina. He loved to fish.
In addition to his wife, Wilbur is survived by his two sons, Mike Neil of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jerry Neil of Benton; one brother, John Neil of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Steve Neil; one sister, Viola Crawford; four brothers, Bob Neil, Edward Neil, Kendall Neil, and Dewayne Neil.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home in with Rev. Pete Hagglund officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Madison, Iowa.
