Thad L. Hay, 64, of Fort Madison, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 3:40 PM at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

He was born on November 26, 1958 in Fort Madison to E.R. “Tex” and Shirley Goss Hay.  On February 14, 1988 he married Lori Myers in Houston, TX.  Thad worked construction his whole life and was an operator engineer for IUOE #649.  He loved animals and being outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, and watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Thad was a generous and outgoing man who enjoyed helping people and being a good neighbor.  Family was most important to Thad, especially spending time with his grandson, Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Hay of Ft. Madison; children, Amanda Hay of Philadelphia, PA, Julie (Jake Henriksson) of Denver, CO and Sara (Wes) Peer of Ft. Madison; grandson, Henry Peer; Siblings,  Cindy (Daniel) Boon of Ft. Madison and Stefanie Williams of Iowa City,  Steve (Debbie) Hay of Ft. Madison and George and Tim Peters; nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by a child, Megan; parents; and siblings, Terry and Doug Hay. 

The family will meet with friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 1-2:30 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at 2:30 PM.  Burial will take place at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.
