Lucy Prado, 94, of Fort Madison, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 8:05 PM at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born on January 1, 1929 to Manuel and Hesiquia Mendez Salazar.  On February 7, 1948 she married Desidero “Lelo” Prado in Ft. Madison and he passed away on July 27, 2002.  She worked at Shaeffer Pen in her early years and was a homemaker. Lucy was a member of Sacred Heart Church.  Lucy enjoyed doing word searches and crocheting.  She loved to cook, work in her garden and canning.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Kirby of Burlington and Angelita Prado of Ft. Madison;  five grandchildren, John, Jessica, Aaron, Nicolas and Jenna; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Angel Juarez of Chicago; one brother, Brijido “Pip” Salazar of Highland, Indiana ; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Arthur Prado; one daughter, Genevieve Thompson; a grandson, Keith Thompson; two brothers and two sisters.

Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating.  The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.  A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM at the church prior to the visitation.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
