Karen Sue Maddox, 74, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 at her home. She was born on June 25, 1948 in Fairfield, IA to Charles & Velva Kincaid Stout. She married David W. Maddox on September 21, 1968 in Fort Madison, IA. Karen and Dave moved out of the Fort Madison area for several years, and then retired moving back in 2009. Karen was a childcare provider for many years and she helped raise many kids along with her own four. She enjoyed being a Nana, quilting, growing houseplants and spending time with her dogs. Her grandchildren meant the world to her.
Karen is survived by her Husband David of Fort Madison, son Dennis (Angela) Maddox of Elizabeth, CO, daughter Annette (Ray) Weaver of Las Vegas, NV, son Daniel (Wendy) Maddox of Winnemucca, NV; 8 grandchildren, Brenton (Nicole) Maddox of Dripping Springs, TX, Kyle (Lynsey) Maddox of Elizabeth, CO, Aaron (Lauren) Maddox of Commerce City, CO, Alexandria (Aaron) Wulf of Parker, CO, Rachel Seefeld of Clayton, NC, Emma Hett of Las Vegas, NV, McKenzie Maddox of Reno, NV, Nicholas Maddox of Eugene, OR and four great grandchildren Weston, Ashtyn and Knoxton and Autumn. Brother Ed (Ginger) Stout of Olathe, KS, 1 niece, Ashley (Robbie) Haden of Kansas City, MO and 1-cousin, whom she was especially close to, Julie Saunders of Fort Madison, IA. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Maddox and her parents.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jon Heyland officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Karen’s name and contributions may be left at the funeral home during the service.
