Jesse Edward Burgher, Sr., 82, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 9:31 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.  He was born on May 12, 1941 in Kirksville, MO to Grover & Mabel Smith Burgher.  He married Linda Prado and they later divorced.  He worked at Crandon’s Paper Mill in Fort Madison and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1965.  He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed bowling, yard work, playing golf and attending his grandchildren’s’ events. 

Jesse is survived by: 1-daughter: Kristen (John) Shaw of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Jesse (Amy) Burgher Jr. of Fort Madison, IA; 5-grandchildren: Jessica Shaw, Colton Heston, Josh (Courtney) Shaw, Jace Burgher & Cade Burgher; 1-great granddaughter: Harper Heston; 1-great granddaughter on the way; numerous nieces & nephews and his little buddy, Opie.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, 3-sisters and 2-brothers in infancy.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A graveside service will immediately follow at Soldiers’ Circle in Oakland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established in Jesse’s memory.  Online condolences to the Burgher family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
