King-Lynk Funeral Home - Arletta R. Muerhoff, 88, Fort Madison

Arletta Ruth (Knipe) Muerhoff age 88, of Fort Madison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:15 am at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison, IA. Ruth was born on August 29, 1934 in Keokuk, IA to Elmer Knipe and Golda (Mapes) Knipe. She grew up in Nauvoo, IL. Ruth married Arthur John Muerhoff on December 30, 1954 at St. Mary’s church in Fort Madison, Iowa and he passed away on September 24, 2018.  Ruth worked several years for the Sheaffer Pen Company, where she and Art met. She ended her career at Aquinas High School where she was the secretary from 1984-2007. Ruth loved reading, watching baseball, basketball, and football on TV. Ruth enjoyed keeping in touch with family by writing frequent letters and sending little gifts. She enjoyed people watching on her multiple trips to Illinois, Colorado, and Las Vegas.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Deb Worden of Arvada, Colorado, her daughter in law, Tammy Muerhoff of Moline, IL and grandchildren, Amanda Worden and Johnny Muerhoff. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert (Linda) Knipe and LaVerne (Sue) Knipe as well as many nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Muerhoff, son, John Muerhoff, her parents, sister, Goldie Knipe, and brothers: Lester Knipe, Richard Knipe.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home and crematory and there will be no services at this time. 
In lieu of a memorial, Ruth's family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to organizations which support children in need of supportive services and/or children in need of extra support as Ruth always ensured that children who were most in need of clothing and books were provided with those items.  Online condolences to Ruth's family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
