Ronald Earl Courtney, 79, of Trinity, Florida, formerly of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his home in Florida.

Ronald was born on November 28, 1943, in Harlan, Iowa, the son of Dr. Stanley N. Courtney and Ramona (Anderson) Barkman. He graduated from Keokuk Senior High School in 1962 and then attended Keokuk Community College. On January 9, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Young in Warsaw, Illinois. She survives.

Ronald was employed at the Keokuk Municipal Pool during his teenage years. He later worked at Jemison Chevrolet in Keokuk before becoming an inspector at Chevron Chemical in Ft. Madison, Iowa, then transferred to St. Helens, Oregon and finally St. James, Louisiana, where he retired after 33 years of service. Ronald had many hobbies he thoroughly enjoyed, including bowling, fishing, trap shooting, swimming, camping, traveling and motorcycle trail riding. 

Ronald is survived by his wife Mary of Trinity, Florida and his son David Courtney of Tampa, Florida.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger Courtney.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
