Posted

Irene M (Wyrick) Pripish, 99, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in Galesburg, Illinois. Irene was born on June 3, 1923, outside Montrose, Iowa, the daughter of John and Emily (Miller) Wyrick.

Irene proudly served her country in the Women Marines Corps during World War II.  It was during this time she met and married George P Pripish on December 27, 1945, in Cherry Point, NC.  Irene enjoyed sewing and embroidery items to give as gifts; loved to garden and share the garden harvests; and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.  But most of all Irene loved visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during the holidays and for special occasions. She could always be counted on and was happy to help her children, even if it meant traveling a long distance. She will be truly missed by her family.

Irene is survived by four children: Margaret Allen, Tom (Kathi) Pripish, Robert Pripish, and Kathryn (Michael) Bachner; and daughter-in-law Luann (Lillie) Pripish; as well as 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, George Pripish; son Michael Pripish; parents John and Emily (Miller) Wyrick; brothers Donald (Mildred) Wyrick, Floyd (Colleen) Wyrick, Albert (Betty) Wyrick, Ernest (Marjorie) Wyrick, Herman Wyrick, Robert Wyrick; sisters June Wyrick, and Delores (Wyrick) (Gerald) Wright.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 pm at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk for a procession to the cemetery.
