Charleen Nye, 74, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa.

Charleen was born on January 16, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Illa Jean (Doss) Nye. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1968 and was employed in healthcare her entire working career. In younger years, she attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk and later attended Family Worship Center. Her church was the center of her life. In her free time, she enjoyed her pastimes of bowling, ceramics, Bingo and cloth painting. Charleen was the definition of a social butterfly and was loved by everyone.

Charleen is survived by her son Larry A. (Raelene) Weber, Jr. of Warsaw, Illinois; her daughter Tonya J. (Fiance Brad Bigger) Smith of Keokuk, Iowa; two brothers: Glenwood Nye of Decatur, Illinois, and Gerald (Rosanna) Nye of Wapello, Iowa, six grandchildren: Hunter (Hunter Kelsey) Maxwell, Jordyn Bange, Brooke Evans, Kolton (Amber) Smith, Braydon (Kenzie) Smith, and Tanner Horner; four great-grandchildren: Layne Kelsey, Karter and Kallahan Smith and Decker Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charleen is preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Lucinda Fern Weber, and two sisters-in-law: Katherine and Sherry Nye.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 pm (noon) to 2 pm directly before the service.
