Patricia Ilene Haffner, 91 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died 8:19 am Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Kensington, Fort Madison. She was born June 1, 1932 in Newton, Iowa, a daughter of Earnest and Lola Agnes (Allred) Culbertson. On July 2, 1955, she married LaVern Rollin Haffner at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death December 6, 2014.
She lived in the Fort Madison area most of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Fort Madison High School. Before raising her family, she worked at Sheaffer Pen. Her family was the most important thing to her and she was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children: Scott (wife Polly) Haffner, of Tucson, Arizona and Jay Haffner, of Coralville, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dorothy Taeger, of Jackson, Missouri; three grandchildren: Lauren (Gilbert) Garza, Brett Haffner, and Carly (Rob) Romej; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Keith Culbertson, Jack Culbertson, Twyla Hopp, Betty Mueller and an infant sibling.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. Her family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, followed by a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 am Thursday morning at the chapel, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.
