Donald Paul McCoy, 76, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Donald was born January 25, 1947 in Kirkwood, Missouri, the son of Walter and Bessie (Lowe) McCoy. On September 19, 1966 he married Barbara S. Todd in Lomax, Illinois. She preceded him in death December 2, 2010.

Mr. McCoy attended school in Dallas City, Illinois, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and retired from JI Case in Burlington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, watching westerns and especially spending time with his family. 

Survivors include three children: Brian (Betty) McCoy of LaHarpe, Shelly (John) Cunningham of Carthage, Illinois and Lori (Steve) Fickel of Buhler, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren: Jeremy, Jordan, Emily, Ben, Kayla, Nathan, Derek, Faven, Diborah, Emma, Katlyn, Emmaly, Alex, Nick and Austin; ten great-grandchildren: Aubree, Collin, Damian, Spencer, Ezra, Ember, Aiden, Ava, Layla and Isaiah and one sister: Betty (Roger) Miller of Fort Madison, Iowa. 

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Dawn Chaney; one sister: Peggy Arnold and three brothers: Bill, Doug and Jack McCoy. 

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home. 
 
A time for sharing memories will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Crane Cemetery, near Lomax with Military Rites being presented by the LaHarpe American Legion.
