Thomas G. Azinger, 94, of Moro, Illinois, formerly of Keokuk, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at 2:48 am, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.

He was born on December 21, 1929, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Herman Edward and Thelma Pauline (Heathman) Azinger. Thomas married Velma Bailey on March 7, 1953 in Keokuk. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2008.

Thomas graduated in 1948 from Keokuk Senior High School. He worked as a boiler operator for Hubinger Co. for 38 years before retirement in 1991. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, serving on the Consistory and Board of Elders. He also served on the Hubco Credit Union Board. Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing and going camping. He will be greatly missed for the amount of love he showed to all his friends and family.  His greatest gift was giving away love.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Steve Lowry; his grandchildren, Jason (Ellyn) Lowry, Daniel Lowry, Jacob (Tara) Lowry, Jordan Lowry, and Justin Lowry; and his two great-grandsons, Thomas and Jack Lowry.

Along with his parents, and wife, Velma, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Azinger; three sisters, Lyn Harry, Edna Riddle, and Patty Walley; and a grandson, John David Lowry.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.   Burial will follow at Sandusky Cemetery in Sandusky, Iowa.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 – 11 am at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
