Vigen Memorial Home obituary - Michael F. Howes, 68, Keokuk

Michael Francis Howes, 68 of Keokuk, IA died Monday, October 31, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

     He was born August 9, 1954 in Keokuk, IA the son of Delbert Francis and Katherine Ketterer Howes.

     On April 18, 1980 Michael was united in marriage to Rhonda Mickelson in Keokuk.  She survives.

     Other survivors include three sons, Michael Howes (Jolene) of Gilbert, AZ, Brian Howes of Burlington, IA and Corey Howes (Heather) of Keokuk, one daughter, Tabitha Strohm (Steve) of Muscatine, IA, fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his mother, Katherine Howes of N.C.,  three sisters, Cathy Thordsen of Burlington, IA, Connie Mann of N.C. and Cindy Willits of Ft. Madison, IA, two brothers, David Howes of Davenport, IA and Steve Howes of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and father-in-law, Leroy Mickelson.

     Michael had been employed by the City of Keokuk and later at Keokuk Steel Castings.

     He was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk.

     Michael enjoyed watching westerns and WWE wrestling on television.  He loved the mountains and taking his kids fishing.  Michael was a people person by nature. He loved to socialize and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends at that time.
