John D. Long, 67, of Montrose, IA died Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at his home.

He was born December 10, 1955 in Keokuk, IA the son of Huston and Lorna Jean Moore Long.  John graduated from Linn- Mar High School in Marion, IA with the class of 1974.

John was a veteran of the United States Navy.

On April 30, 1984 John was united in marriage to Beth Ann Westermeyer.  She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Lucas Long, one daughter, Kate Long, three brothers, Chris Long of Arkansas, Rande Long of Keokuk and Mike Long (Brenda) of Illinois, mother-in-law Ruby Westermeyer of Keokuk one sister, Darcy Quick (Al) of Woodbine, IA, brothers-in-law, David Westermeyer (Chantel) of Montrose, IA and Mike Westermeyer (Chris) of Keokuk, good friend, Ron Philp of Ft. Madison, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Long, brother-in-law, Ward Westermeyer, sister-in-law, Teresa Westermeyer, father-in-law, Calvin Westermeyer and one niece, Morgan Westermeyer.

John had been employed by Fruehauf for twenty-five years and then at Dial/Pinnacle Foods for ten years. 

John loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, camping and riding his Harley and four-wheeler.  He loved spending time with friends and having fun.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

According to John’s wishes, there will be no services.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
