Janice Kay VanGinkel, 61, of Ft. Madison, IA died Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Aspire of Donnellson in Donnellson, IA.

    She was born on August 30, 1960 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Melvin and Mary (Kay) Land.  She first married John Samples and he preceded her in death in 1981.  She married Mike VanGinkel in 1991 and they later divorced.

     She had worked at the Moose Lodge in Ft. Madison, IA.

     Janice enjoyed riding horses and often rode in the Ft. Madison Rodeo Parade.  She also enjoyed watching movies and T.V., her favorites shows being the Twilight series, Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy.  Her home was the place to be for her family and she loved sitting around the kitchen table and talking with all of them.  She loved her dog, Cody, who was her faithful and loyal companion.

     Janice is survived by two daughters, Sarah Milam (Brandon) of Sylacauga, AL and Jessica Allen (Nick Bushinger) of Ft. Madison, two sons, Brandon Parsons (Chyna Humburd) of Ft. Madison and Tyler VanGinkel of Maine, seven grandchildren, Dylan Williams, Karleigh and Lucas Milam, Kyra Allen, Austin Allen, Jasmine Allen and Adelynn Parsons and one great grand-daughter, Lily Myers.  She is also survived by her father, Melvin Land of Keokuk, and two brothers, Bill Land of Louisiana and Steve Land (Denise) of Keokuk.

     She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Samples, her mother, her grandparents, one brother, Chuck, one sister, Debbie and one grandson, Charles Cornelis in 1998.

     A Celebration of Life was held August 17 at the home of her daughter, 3102 Avenue K, Ft. Madison, IA.

     The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
