Dale Richard Hyatt, 78, of Keokuk died Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA.

He was born October 31, 1943 the son of Dale and Doris Schneider Hyatt in Keokuk, IA. 

He graduated from Keokuk High School.

After his high school he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged February 24, 1967.

On August 27, 1966 he was united in marriage to Billie Jean Johnson in Keokuk, IA.

Dale was employed with the Keokuk School District as a custodian for 28 years.

Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed mushroom hunting and metal detecting. He was known for his storytelling and could spin a story out of any situation. 

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Hyatt of Keokuk, a daughter, Bonnie Eversmeyer of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Michael Bartels (Kyndal) of Gilbert, IA, Cody Bartels (Morgan) of Jacksonville, FL, Tammy Bartels (Aaron Land) of Hamilton, IL and Bella Eversmeyer of Keokuk, one great grandson, Jaxtynn Land and a sister-in-law, Sharon Trone of Keokuk, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tammy Newlon, a great grandson Lantz Eversmeyer and siblings in infancy.

A gathering of remembrance will be held after 1 p.m., Monday with family meeting with friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. 

Military rites will be rendered for Dale prior to the visitation on Monday at 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
