Martin Dale Jacobs, 61, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, after a long battle with cancer.
 
Services will be Friday, October 7, 2022, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 380 Durphy Street, Nauvoo, Illinois.
 
Dale was born October 8, 1960, in Chicago, to Martin and Dorothy Jacobs. The family moved to New London, Iowa, when he was a toddler. In 1979, he graduated from New London High School. After briefly attending Brigham Young University, he served a two-year service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teaching the people of France about our Savior, Jesus Christ.
 
After returning from France, Dale married Kathryn Anne DiPrima on August 17, 1982, in the Washington D.C. Temple. They lived in Fort Madison, Iowa, and Nauvoo, Illinois, while he worked for the Iowa Department of Corrections at Iowa State Penitentiary and Newton Correctional Facility. In 1995, Dale and Kathy became the parents of Joseph Jacobs. In the early 2000s, Dale retired/resigned from corrections and became the director of security at the Nauvoo Illinois Temple, where he worked until 2021. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his involvement included serving in many positions, including high council, bishop and counselor.
 
Dale is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Joseph of Utah; kama ‘oko ‘a daughter, Kari Lynn Floyd of Carthage, Illinois, and two grandsons, Jordan and Connor Johnson; parents Martin and Dorothy Jacobs of New London, Iowa; four sisters, Myra (Greg) Thomas of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Martha Bell of New London, Iowa, Melissa (Bob) Bence of Burlington, Iowa, and Maureen Jacobs of Bettendorf, Iowa; one brother, Maurice (Marlyn) Jacobs of Ocoee, Florida; mother-in-law, Kay DiPrima; one sister-in-law, Lani DiPrima of Utah; one brother-in-law, Doug DiPrima, of Nauvoo, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Cyrus and Mildred Walter, paternal grandparents Everett and Mabel Jacobs; one infant sister, Susan; three uncles, Calvin Jacobs, Roger Jacobs, and Jerry Walter; and two aunts, Carolyn Crouch and Nancy Bucher.
