BLOOMFIELD – The Central Lee Lady Hawks finished fourth at this weekend’s Davis County Invitational.
The Hawks finished second in pool play after knocking off Davis County and Chariton before losing to Centerville.
In championship bracket play, the Hawks fell to Van Buren and Centerville to take 4th place overall.
Our team had quite a few girls sick this week and just came back Saturday. We were also missing Kenna Sandoval (setter) and Jayden Mueller for half a day. The girls that did play did a great job with the changes and with a few just coming back from being sick and not 100% yet,” said Head Coach Amy Cook.
“Overall, our team worked hard and the girls that stepped into the roles for missing players did a great job.”
The Hawks defeated Davis County in first match of the day 21-15, 22-20 and then beat Chariton 21-19, 21-19. Centerville handed Central Lee its first loss 21-17, 21-15. Van Buren then beat the shorthanded Hawks in bracket play 21-16, 21-14 followed by the last match of the day which was the third-place match with Centerville winning 21-7, 21-11.
Halle Lampe had 18 kills to lead the Hawks at the net, while Taylor Jones had 14 kills over the five games. Ellie Lake had 50 assists with the absence of Kenna Sandoval in the middle of the Hawks offense.
Jayden Mueller had 29 digs in two pool games.
