Lady Hawks roll on Senior Night

Central Lee gives up first set, but rallies for four-set win over Danville

CENTRAL LEE – The Lady Hawks took three of four sets from Danville Tuesday night in a Southeast Iowa Superconference volleyball matchup.
The Bears were able to escape in the first match on Senior Night in Central Lee 25-23, but lost the next three 25-19, 26-24, 25-17 to get the win.
Central Lee improves to 2-4 in SEISC play and 13-11 overall. Danville falls to 1-5 and 4-21 overall.
Central Lee travels to No. 2. Holy Trinity on Thursday before heading to the Davis County Tournament on Saturday.
Halle Lampe and Taylor Jones combined for a whopping 28 kills on the night. Jones had just three errors at the net on 46 attempts.
Kenna Sandoval had 29 assists in her setter role. Ellie Lake was a perfect 16-16 at the service line with two aces. Jones was 15-16 with an ace. Jayden Mueller had 24 digs from her spot in the back while Lampe dug up 19 on the night.
Head Coach Amy Cook said the seniors gave the Hawks the spark they needed early on.
“This was our senior night and I felt like all of our seniors started out the first set with the energy we needed,” she said.
“Even though we fell short, those girls played well together and just had fun for their final time during the season at home.”
The Hawks will say good-bye to seniors Kylie Fortune, Lila Shepard, Kayleigh Larkin, Lampe, Lake, and Jalyn Hawk due to graduation.
