IGHSAU releases volleyball post-season brackets

FORT MADISON - Holy Trinity’s road through the Class 1A regional volleyball bracket won’t require a lot of travel.
The Crusaders (20-5), who moved to No. 2 in the IGHSAU rankings, get a bye in the Region 2 bracket and will play host to either Winfield-Mount Union (10-10) or Lone Tree (8-15) in the quarterfinals on October 23.
The rest of Holy Trinity’s bracket has WACO (6-18) playing Notre Dame (20-11) and New London (4-17) playing Wapello (14-11) in the first round on October 21. The winners of those two matches will play a quarterfinal at Notre Dame on October 23.
The semifinal will be October 28 at Holy Trinity.
The other side of the bracket has Midland (4-20) at Springville (19-7), Marquette Catholic (8-16) at Easton Valley (7-12), Prince of Peace (1-20) at Calamus-Wheatland (18-8) and North Cedar (9-15) at Highland (17-11) in quarterfinal matches in first-round matches.
The regional final will be October 30 at a site to be determined.
CLASS 3A: Central Lee (13-11) will play at West Liberty (21-10) in the Region 8 quarterfinals on October 22. The winner of that match will play the winner of the quarterfinal between Fairfield (13-15) at No. 10 Wilton (24-3) in a semifinal on October 24 at Wilton.
The other side of the bracket has Davis County (7-23) playing at No. 8 Mid-Prairie (23-5) and Centerville (6-13) at Albia (16-6) in the quarterfinals. The two winners play October 24 at Mid-Prairie in the semifinals.
The regional final is October 29 at a site to be determined.
CLASS 4A: Fort Madison (5-19) will open Region 4 play at Mount Pleasant (7-17) in the quarterfinals on October 22. The winner of that match will play at No. 4 Clear Creek Amana (30-5) in the semifinals on October 24.
The other side of the bracket has Gilbert (9-13) playing Dallas Center-Grimes (18-18) in the quarterfinals. The winner of that match plays at Ballard (13-11) in the semifinals.
The regional final is October 29 at a site to be determined.
