Rodger L Burnett, 80, of Hiawatha, died August 14, 2022 after a hard fought, lengthy illness.  He was born June 16, 1942 to Raymond and Ruth (McCoy) Burnett in Keokuk, Iowa, and grew up in Southeast Iowa in the Farmington area.  He served in the US Army in 1960-1961.  Rodger married Marlene Galland in 1963, and they were married until her death in 2019.  He was a computer network design engineer and retired from Aegon after 32 years. He was a long-time active member of Blair Ridge Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids, IA.

       Rodger is survived by his daughters Karen (Ted) of Tipton, and Linda of Des Moines, and his sons David of Shawboro, NC, and John (Steph) of Tiffin.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Alisha, Ben, Rachel, Kaitlin, Lauren, Matthew, Bethany, and 1 very special great-granddaughter, Lyla.  He is also survived by many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends, including his long-time neighbors and friends in Hiawatha.  Rodger was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ruth, sisters Marilyn and Vivian, and brothers Earl, C.W, and a brother who died shortly after birth

       A graveside service was held at the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka, MO on Friday, August 19.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeview Village Amana Retirement Community in Amana, IA, or the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, IA.  Both provided extraordinary care to Rodger as his health failed in his final years.  Online condolences to the Burnett family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website:www.kinglynk.com.  King-Lynk funeral home in Fort Madison, IA is assisting the family.
