The family of Marilyn Kay Gilman of Burlington, Iowa is saddened to announce her passing on January 1, 2023, at the age of 77. She was the daughter of Lloyd C. and Dorothy M. Logan Dodson. Marilyn married Thomas Gilman Jr. on April 26, 1969, and her beloved husband passed away on December 29, 2020.

Marilyn loved spending time with her family and was an avid Cubs fan along with the Minnesota Vikings. She loved her music and Elvis Presley was her favorite of all time.  She loved making diamond art pictures and giving them to her granddaughters. She also loved to crochet, but her biggest passion was running their fur business with her husband.  They were in business for over 30 years doing what they loved. Marilyn was a Christian and had taken Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She will be lovingly missed by her children, Scott Gilman of Fort Madison, Iowa and Denni (Tony) Nye of Burlington, Iowa, along with her eleven Grandchildren and twenty three Great Grandchildren, her brothers: Lloyd “Sonny” Dodson of Fort Madison, Iowa, Donald Dodson of Keokuk, Iowa. Sister: Alberta Fullhart of Fort Madison, Iowa. Brother-in-laws: Keith (Barb) Gilman of Fort Madison, Iowa, Dan (Cindy) Gilman of Robertsville, Missouri, and Frank (Melony) Leininger of Donnellson, Iowa. Many nieces and nephews. Marilyn also has three bonus daughters: Tina Beerbower of Des Moines, Iowa, Debra Eastman of Montrose, Iowa, and Jenifer Harred of Fort Madison, Iowa.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her Best Friend/Soul Mate: Thomas Gilman Jr., one infant son, Dale; her parents;  her father and mothers in law, Thomas Gilman Sr. and Virginia Gilman and Josephine Gilman. two sisters: Viola Ramsey and Wanda Dodson (Infant), two Brothers-in-law: Steve Gilman and Dale Fullhart, three Sisters-in-laws: Patricia Poggemiller, Linda Walter and Palmyra Dodson

The family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 1 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Minister Tony Nye officiating.  Burial will follow in Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery.
