Survivors include his wife, Joan Schubert of Burlington, IA; one son, Steve (Jana) Schubert of Littleton, CO; two daughters, Teresa (Steven) Gerard of New Sharon, IA and Kathy Ilmberger of Burlington, IA; 9-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one sister, Norma McCollough of Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don and a sister, Mary Ann Rankin.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison. There will be no formal services at this time. Burial will be held at a later date in Claypoole Cemetery in rural Wever, IA. A memorial has been established in Bernie’s name and may be sent to: Joan Schubert, 3301 Sterling Drive, Burlington, IA 52601.
