King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Glenn Melvin Taylor, 89, Fort Madison

Glenn Melvin Taylor, 89, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.  He was born on July 25, 1934 in Roseville, IL to Melvin & Lena Collins Taylor.  He married Ruth Ann Moeller on June 27, 1975 in Fort Madison, IA.  He worked at Consolidated Packaging in Fort Madison for 31 ½ years.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and was a member of First Baptist Church.  He volunteered at the Tri-State Rodeo, building things like the display cases in the rodeo museum and the restrooms. He enjoyed woodworking and made things like cutting boards, hope chests, bird houses, cheese cutting boards and other things for family and friends.
Glenn is survived by: his wife: Ruth Taylor of Fort Madison, IA; 2-daughters: Glenda Beatty of Burlington, IA & Nancy (Mike) Postel of Crest Hill, IL; 2-sons: David (Jim Stephenson) Taylor of Fort Madison, IA & Mike (Roxie) Taylor of Milan, IL; 4-grandchildren: Nanette, Deserae, Michael & Kasey; 6-great grandchildren: Camille, Alyssa, Nolan, Hailey, Kabel & Kim and 1-sister: Beth McCoy of Roseville, IL.  He was preceded in death by: his parents and 1-son in infancy, Lawrence.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. Steve Scott & Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for First Baptist Church.  Online condolences to Glenn’s family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
