Barbara A. Pollpeter, 83, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 6:48 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, IA. She was born on March 12, 1940 in Fort Madison, IA to Floyd & Mabel Stellern Bentzinger. She married James W. “Gus” Pollpeter on June 30, 1962 in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2003. She worked in the shipping department at the Sheaffer Pen Company for more than 25 years. She enjoyed dachshunds, word searches, reading, Swedish embroidery, the Chicago Cubs, going out to eat, watching ball games at the Denmark Park and especially spending time with her family.
Barb is survived by: 1-son: Michael (Missy) Pollpeter of Denmark, IA; 1-daughter: Gina (Ron) Hardin of Denmark, IA; 5-grandchildren; 2-step grandchildren; 6-great grandchildren; 7-step great grandchildren & 1-brother: Darrell (Sandy) Bentzinger of Crest Hill, IL. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband & 3-brother in laws: Mark, Steve & Carl.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery in West Point, IA with Rev. Chad Savage officiating. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark, IA. Memorials have been established for the Denmark Ball Association or Denmark Fire & Rescue and may be sent to: Gina Hardin, 501 Denmark 8th Street, Fort Madison, IA 52627 or left at the cemetery during the service.
