Alan Jay Rung, 61, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1961 in Fort Madison, IA to Bernard Edward & Mary Catherine Vonderhaar Rung. He married Lori L. Nolte on August 17, 1991 in Fort Madison, IA. He was a painter and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Lions. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Bella.
Alan is survived by: his wife: Lori Rung of Fort Madison, IA; 1-daughter: Elyssa (Dan) Hall of Waterloo, IA; 2-sons: Tyler (Katie) Rung of Fort Madison, IA & Brody Rung of Manteca, CA; 4-grandchildren: Paislee, River, Clay & Levi; 3-sisters: Sally (Tower) Stadler of Quincy, IL, Kathy (Dan) Fraise of Donnellson, IA & Julie (Brad) Freesmeier of West Point, IA; 5-brothers: Jim (Chris) Rung of Victoria, TX, Marvin (Chris) Rung of Fort Madison, IA, Marty (Twila) Rung of Fort Madison, IA, Steve (Becky) Rung of Fort Madison, Gary Rung of West Point, IA and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church. The memorial mass will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison. A memorial has been established in Alan’s name.
