Mary Margaret Swinderman, 89, of Merced, CA and formerly of Ft. Madison passed away on Saturday, February 04, 2023 at 3:34 AM at Pacifica Assisted Living in Merced.

   She was born on June 5, 1933 in Cliquot, Missouri to Thomas and Mary Garretson Emmett. On June 10, 1951 she married Jerald Swinderman at the Argyle Presbyterian Church he passed away on May 28, 2015. Mary Margaret was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Ft. Madison and attended Central Presbyterian Church in Merced.

   Mary enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. The family was fortunate to see many countries around the world and lived in India for three years in the late 60's because of Jerry's job. They moved from lowa to California and saw the United States during their many travels. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was very generous and gave to many charities and her church.

   Survivors include two sons, Mitchell (Kathy) Swinderman of Merced, CA and Martin Swinderman of Benica, CA; four grandchildren Mark II, James, Jason and Natalie; four great grandchildren; Anissa, Bryan, Roman and Scarlett; sister Clara of Tucson AZ, sister in-law Marie Emmett of Colorado, brothers John (Cheryl) Emmett of Ft. Madison and Jamie (Sandy) Emmett of Montrose; nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Michael and Mark; two sisters, Frances and Dorothy and one brother, Tom.

   A special thank-you to the wonderful people at Covenant Care Hospice.  A graveside service will be held in the spring or early summer of 2023 at the Montrose Cemetery.  King-Lynk Funeral Home is assisting the family.
