Lois T. Patten Delaney, 93, of Fort Madison, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 12:56 PM at the West Point Care Center.

She was born on December 23, 1929 in Ft. Madison to Archie and Esther Bueter Patten and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School.  On January 28, 1950 she married Robert J. Delaney at St. Joseph’s Church in Ft. Madison and he passed away on October 5, 1998.  Lois was a homemaker and worked part time for twenty one years at the Daily Democrat.  She was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church, now Holy Family Parish.  Lois was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Jean Epsy Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the old Fort Genealogical Society.  She loved going to ball games always cheering for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Her family was her pride and joy.  She is survived by three sons, Michael (Robin) Delaney of Ft. Madison, Ron Delaney of Bloomington, IL and Tom (Peggy) Delaney of Downers Grove, IL; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Jay and Francis in infancy; four sisters, Gertie Hundt, Rita Sokolik, Dorothy Kipp, Mary Sokolik and a sister in law, Dorothy Delaney. 

The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 11 AM at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Reverend John Stack officiating.  The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
