Eugene Joseph Brandt, age 88, of Bluffton, South Carolina and formerly of Ft. Madison, passed away on October 20, 2022 at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville after a brief illness.

Mr. Brandt was born on February 2, 1934 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to the late Herman Brandt and Clara Pollmiller Brandt.   On December 2, 1961 he married Darlene F. Stovall in Ft. Madison and she passed away on June 30, 2014.  He was in the United States Air Force; enjoyed woodworking; taking photos of his family; listening to music; was an avid UNC Tar Heels fan and a Quality Control Engineer for Georgia Power Company.

Eugene is survived by his son, David F. Brandt (Robin) of Monroe, NC; his daughters, Patrice Hewlett (Richard) of Garner, NC and Jean Barrentine (Ray) of Sparta, GA; his sister, Rita Groene of Ft. Madison, Iowa; his grandchildren, Andrew Barrentine, William Barrentine, Megan Sutton (Anthony), Ryan Hewlett and his great grandchildren, Gemma Barrentine, Daxton Barrentine, Grayson Sutton and Camden Sutton.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene; his brothers, Norbert Brandt and Jerome Brandt; his sister, Mary Buckley and brothers in law, Bob Groene and Walter Buckley.

Visitation will held on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be recited at 1 PM.   A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Rev. John Stack officiating.
