HTC boys finish a strong 3rd

KEOSAUQUA -  The Central Lee boys' and girls' cross country teams had one of their most productive outings of the year Wednesday at Indian Lake in Van Buren County.
The boys and girls both took second place in the five-team field with the Hawks tallying 50 points and the Lady Hawks finishing with 36 points behind Van Buren’s 23. Van Buren won the boys’ meet as well, with 16 points with the top four runners and a seventh-place finish.
Caden Crozier pulled the top time for the Hawks for the first time this year with a 19:37, good enough for 8th place. He was followed consecutively by Leo Thomas’ 19:40, Kaidin Humes with a 19:41, Austin Fogarty’s 19:47, and Caeden Newton’s 19:58.
Other runners for Central Lee were Jovan Rule with a 20:18 (15th), Ayden Kent 21:24 (23rd), Keegan Westfall 22:31 (29th), Riley Salter-Rickman 25:45 (40th), and Mason Sanders 26:57 (41st).
In the girls' run Evelyn Adkins captured a 3rd-place finish with a 22:53 to lead Central Lee.
Macy Anderson was right behind in 4th with a 22:55. The other scoring runners for the Lady Hawks were Aubree Bunnell 22:58 (6th), Charlee Clay 24:46 (10th), and Gabby Maynes at 25:08 (13th). Afton Maynes finished 16th overall with a 25:28.
Holy Trinity’s boys finished 3rd in one of their best performances of the year.
Tanner Williams had the top run for the Crusaders with a 20:16 (14th overall). He was followed closely by Jay Ellison 20:37 (16th), Tate Green at 20:51 (19th), Layne Rung 21:21 (21st), and Adam Sobczak 21:23 (22nd) for 92 points. Jacob Baker ran a 28:15 (42nd).
Both squads will participate in the Mike Jay Invitational at Heritage Oaks Country Club hosted byWapello.
