Michael Anthony Bollin, 73, of Keokuk, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at his home in Keokuk surrounded by his family.
Michael was born on April 26, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Max and Bette (Weirather) Bollin. On December 21, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathy Lynn Yancey in Hemet, California. She survives. Michael was of the Catholic faith and was employed as a farmer and a Journeyman Wireman for fifty years with IBEW Local #13. He led a full life that was centered around his children and grandchildren. Michael raised horses, mules, cattle, and Walker coonhounds, and he loved to fish and garden, passing this knowledge along to his children and grandchildren. He canned huge quantities of elderberry jelly to share with his family. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Michael loved to coon hunt, and never missed opening day.
Michael is survived by his wife Kathy Lynn Bollin of Keokuk; four children: Anne (Derek) Conover, Beckie Bollin, Maxine McElree, and John (Faith) Bollin; eleven grandchildren: Allison (Ethan) Hellweg, Jared Brisby, Daly Brisby, Alan Bollin, Connor Bollin, Gabe Bollin, Luka Bollin-Kipnusu, Jude Bollin, Grant Conover, Sydney Conover, and Graham Conover; three sisters: Mary Beth Frakes, Mary Jo Seaver and Rose Loth; his brother Matt Bollin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Nate Bollin and his sister Katie Bollin.
A private family burial will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Nauvoo, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 6 to 8 pm at the Riverfront Landing in Montrose, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family for the grandchildren’s college funds.
