Connie “Lynn” Parrish, 57, of Keokuk, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
Lynn was born on November 10, 1966, at Fort Gordon, Georgia, the daughter of Ivan Ray Parrish and Mary “Connie” (Lumley) Parrish Helenthal. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1984 and received her degree in Law Enforcement at Western Illinois University in 1988.
Lynn was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk and was employed at Illinois River Corrections. She was especially proud of her work there as volunteer coordinator. She received an award for being an expert shot and loved going to the gun range. She became an expert in many hobbies, some of her favorites being reading, creating art and displaying collectibles. One of her favorite places was her Grandpa George’s farm. She was a huge Prince fan and enjoyed listening to 80s rock.
Lynn is survived by her mother Connie Helenthal of Keokuk; two brothers: Ivan Craig (Gina) Parrish and John E. (Bonnie) Land, both of Keokuk; four step-siblings: John (Shannon) Helenthal, Robert (Peggy) Helenthal, Julia (Ritchie) McDaniel, and Sarah (Travis) Scheel; six nieces and nephews: Austin (Hailey), Chase, Payton, Kamryn, and Karsyn Parrish, and John R.V. Land; and several cousins.
Lynn is preceded in death by her father Ivan Ray Parrish and three cousins: Sheila Lumley, Robert Van Winkle, and Steve Lund.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at La Belle Cemetery in La Belle, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A procession from the funeral home to the cemetery will leave directly following the visitation.
